The TV/Multimedia Production class teaches the students all aspects of video production and multimedia from basic filming and editing to studio production. During the class students are challenged with various assignments that allow students to develop their skills in a fun and creative environment. Students in the first year program work in small groups to complete projects. These projects allow students to learn and refine the audio and video skills learned. Students become efficient working with a variety of video editing and audio software. By the end of the first year, students are able produce videos that are suitable for local TV.
During the second year students are challenged to do more independently work. The class is run like a production company to give students a “real world” experience. Students are challenged to take their skills to a higher level, so they are ready to enter the workforce or continue on to high education. Students assignments include segments for local cable stations and business that air on TV. Like the first year, students are required to keep electronic portfolios of their work. During the 2nd half of the year, students also have the opportunity to intern at local TV/Multimedia businesses in the community.
Students may return for a 3rd year of TV/Multimedia where they will hone their skills in the industry by participating in a long term internship in the community at a TV/Multimedia related business several days/week.
