Awards/Recognitions

Brian Troast of CHS was awarded a $750.00 scholarship from CTC and a $100.00 check from the Professional Masonry Institute to further his education at WVU. Bryan also won 2nd Place at the 2006 SkillsUSA Maryland Masonry Contest, competing against 18 other contestants. Brian also won 1st Place at the Regional Masonry Contest this year and was presented a stainless steel trowel from Mr. Dick Kreh, author of Masonry Skills textbook.

Curtis Hodge of MHS (4th from left) and Andrew Putman of GTJHS (2nd from left) won 2nd Place at the 2005 National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas City, MO., competing in the Team Works Competition. Curtis and Andrew competed against 48 other teams throughout the United States, Porto Rico, Virgin Island and Guam. Curtis also won 2nd place at the 2006 SkillsUSA Maryland Team Works Competition.

TJ Fry of CHS won 3rd Place at the 2006 SkillsUSA Maryland Team Works Competition held in Baltimore, MD. TJ completed the first phase, Core Curriculum of the Association of Builders & Contractors (ABC) national certification and earned 3 college credits in the Construction Management Course offered at Frederick Community College while attending his second year in the Masonry Program. TJ plans to return to CTC his senior year and take the optional third year (extended technical studies) Masonry Program and later in the year he would like to do work-study with Frederick Brick Works.
