Scoring Rubric for Contest (brought to you by Schooltube.com)

 

Viral Film Festival
(sponsored by the Career and Technology Center TV / Multimedia Program and Schooltube.com)

Provided are a list of rules that each team will follow, please make sure you read through everything and understand what is being asked:

  1. Have fun!  The purpose of this film festival is to have fun and show off the creative you have through moviemaking.  You will have 3 weeks to complete this contest and turn it in, so get out, get excited, and make something that we all can enjoy.
  2.  Each video will be a minimum of 3 minutes.  Please remember we will be watching all the videos at the premiere, so don’t make us sit through unnecessary video.  There is no limit how long it can be.
  3. Your team needs to RSVP to franka@careertech.net by Oct. 15th.  The RSVP should include your team name, a team leader and contact information for the team leader (school, phone number, and grade).
  4. Prizes will depend on the number of teams that enter the contest, so go gather your enemies, in order to get bigger prizes you’ll need to recruit more people to possibly take it from you.
  5. There will be 2 categories, one for high school and one for middle school.  More details will be posted about prizes in the next couple weeks (depends on how much competition).
  6. Entries will be judged by the Schooltube.com film festival rubric that is provided on the website.
  7. All entries and entry fees ($10 per team) must be turned in by 2:30pm on Oct. 30th.  Entries can be on DVD or MiniDV tape. 
  8. All videos must follow FCPS policies and procedures.  The use of inappropriate language, nudity, weapons (in traditional sense), etc… will be grounds for automatic disqualification.
  9. All work must be original work, including all music.
  10. Recommended groups size is 6 or less, but that is your choice.  Remember the more groups, the bigger the prizes.

Hope - (Hope not in Religion)
Destiny (No Romance)
Fear (No Paranoid Schizo!)
Love (No Romance Stories)
Hate (No Violence)
Rebellion (No Actual Rebellion)
Faith (Not Religion)
Beauty (Beauty NOT in a Person, either outward appearance or in personality)

 

In each category listed in below link, there are several quotes from famous people.  You need to pick 1 theme or subject and incorporate one quote into the film.  You do not need to use the quote or the wording in it.  You are to interpret the quote into the film.  BE CREATIVE!  Before your film begins, please list your team name, theme or subject, and quote.  If you cannot create graphics, please include this with your entry.

Premiere party will be held on November 5th at the Frederick County Career and Technology Center in the TV / Multimedia Classroom.  All entries will be screened and awards will be given.  Please encourage friends and family to attend.
