The Computer Technician/Analyst program at the Career & Technology Center is open to 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grade students who are interested in a variety of careers available in the computer industry.
The Computer Technician/Analyst Program goes beyond learning how to repair a computer and focuses on the skills needed to pass the CompTIA A+ and Linux+ certification tests. In the fast paced IT community, technology is always changing and it important for technicians of the future to be prepared in both what the current standards are and also how to continue to keep current. The students develop problem-solving abilities that are key in solving customer concerns, and develop a working knowledge of professional work ethics and safety.
Units of study include:
- Computer Hardware
- Computer Software
- Basic Linux
Students who complete the computer Tech/Analyst programand are interested in developing skills in the networking side of the computer field are encouraged to complete the CISCO Networking Academy program.
Graduates of this program are encouraged to go on to post-secondary education at technical colleges or pursue a four year degree that will compliment their automotive interests. (See the career options page)
Mathematics, (including algebra) and a strong physical science background are recommended for success in this program.
Students who are accepted to the program are required to supply:
- ESD wrist strap
- Computer tool kit
- Details of both will be available at orientation
- The desire to learn
