GRADING POLICY

 

GRADING CATAGORIES

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE  = 50% of your letter grade

Classroom assignments, quizzes, test, performance based assessments etc.

Points are awarded when the assignment is properly completed and turned into the class folder when due

TECHNICAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT  = 25% of your letter grade

The students demonstration of skill mastery preformed in the shop area on projects

Points are awarded when the student properly completes and turns in when due the weekly work report

WORK MATURITY SKILLS = 25% of your letter grade

Demonstration of a professional attitude:  attendance, task preparation, use of time/task completion, human relations, accepts supervision and safety
 
Points are awarded when the student properly completes and turns in the weekly work report on time

 

LATE WORK POLICY

Turned in when due                                                      100% of earned credit

Turned in 1 day late                                                       75% of earned credit

Turned in 2 days late                                                      50% of earned credit

Turned in 3 days late                                                      25% of earned credit

  • Although this policy is written and prepared by the instructor, it reflects the Frederick County Public Schools’ regulations and industry standards.

  • Grading in this program will be based upon demonstrated student mastery of specific skill objectives.

  • Student mastery level is determined through performance-based assessments after the necessary skills are taught.

  • Students will receive an incomplete grade, which carries the same weight as a zero, for an incomplete assignment

  • Instruction methods include classroom theory and practical theory.

  • Student’s work maturity skills are scored using a point system. Please refer to the CTC Student Handbook, Page 15, for point indicators and values.

  • In the event of an absence, students are required to request missed assignments from the instructor.

  • The principal is the final authority in all appeals and disputes concerning grades for all students at the Frederick County Career & Technology Center.

 

Grade Calculation

Percentage          Grade              Description

90% -100%          A         Excellent Work, Meets Industry Standards
80% - 89%           B         Good Work, minimal help needed
70% - 79%           C         Average Work, Acceptable, improvement needed
60% - 69%           D         Below Average, major Improvement necessary
  0% - 59%           F         Poor Work, Unacceptable, Does not meet standards
