EMPLOYMENT OUTLOOK

With Frederick being a part of the Baltimore & Washington Metropolitan areas, the employment opportunities in the construction industry are excellent. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Nationally, it is predicted that a 14% increase will occur in carpentry related jobs by the year 2012. In Maryland, a 19% increase is predicted in that same period of time. Currently, the construction industry employs 7 million people and accounts for nearly 10% of all businesses – mostly small privately owned firms.

The carpentry program at CTC teaches students entry-level carpentry skills and introduces students to the construction career pathway and the educational requirements along the way. According to www.salary.com, the following information lists the Baltimore, MD median salary ranges for some carpentry related careers. These jobs require carpentry technical skills and/or a thorough knowledge of construction.
