Classroom Policies
- Students are to be present, on time, with all needed materials.
- All assignments are to be COMPLETE (100%) and ON TIME. The instructor reserves the right to give academic detentions when a student does not consistently complete homework and/or class work. Assignments not fully completed are considered incomplete. No partial credit will be given for incomplete or late assignments. (See next note for late work due to absence.)
- There is always work to be made up when a student is absent. Even when work is not collected or graded, it is to the student’s advantage to complete it. Most likely it is something he/she will see again on a test or quiz. Work should be handed in order to receive feedback. Late work due to absence will be accepted on a one-day to one-day absent basis. (One day out, one day to make up work; two days out, two days to make up work, etc.) It is THE STUDENT’S responsibility to see the instructor to arrange make-ups. No credit will be given for unexcused absences. (See student handbook.)
- Students should contribute often! Try! Dare to risk! He/she may not always be right, but that’s how learning best occurs!
Grading
Grades will be calculated using the following weighted values:
| Instructional Assignments |
60% |
| Assessments |
20% |
| Journals |
10% |
| Business Practices |
10% |
- Instructional Assignment – any assignment not falling into another category.
Please note: The grade is very heavily weighted in this category because learning is a process. Daily assignments which practice the concepts being taught, along with hands-on practice are one of the most important parts of this process. Homework will account for 10% of this grade overall.
- Assessments – quizzes, tests, projects, shadow packets
- Journals – daily journals and weekly current event write-ups
- Business Practices – daily modeling of good business practices including:
interpersonal relationships, neatness, ethics, attendance, punctuality, self-discipline, on-task work, etc.
Interim and term grades for reporting purposes will reflect the following grade structure:
| A |
90% and above |
| B |
80% - 89.9% |
| C |
70% - 79.9% |
| D |
60% - 69.9% |
| F |
59.9% and below |
