Students who successfully components of the Academy of Finance program at the Career & Technology Center can earn college credit

Frederick Community College

Students who successfully complete Academy of Finance I with an average grade of a B or higher will receive credit for BU 103 Intro to Business. Successful completion of Academy of Finance I & II with a letter grade of a B or higher will receive credit for BU 273 Business Communication. Students who successfully complete the internship component of the Academy of Finance Program and receive a B letter grade or higher will receive credit for CE 103 Cooperative Education. These articulated credits are in addition to the 3 college credits that students earn by taking Principles of Finance at FCC during Academy of Finance II. The class is completed during Academy of Finance class time. Students still receive both high school and college credit and the 3 college credits will transfer to many four-year institutions.
Mount St. Mary’s University

Students will need to pass an assessment given at the Mount which will test their knowledge of personal finance. Any students passing the assessment with a score above 85% will receive credit for Personal Finance.
Advance Placement Macro- and Micro Economics

During the 2 nd year of the program, students will receive instruction in both areas of Economics. Most two and four-year schools will accept scores of 3 or above. However, it is up to each school to decide what score is needed to receive the credits.
Additionally, 2nd year students are required to take the college level accounting class at Frederick Community College and these credits will be accepted at many colleges as well.

Students must earn a Certificate of Financial Studies and a minimum cumulative GPA of B in the Academy of Finance program. They will 13.5 quarter credits from Johnson & Wales courses Intro to Investments, Money & Banking, and Macroeconomics.
